Special Needs Plans: Building a Successful Care System for High-risk Beneficiaries (PDF, 210 KB)
For institutionalized, dual eligible, or chronically ill beneficiaries, Special Needs Plans (SNPs) integrate acute and long-term care services, as well as Medicare and Medicaid financing. We describe the challenges of SNPs in providing integrated care for high-risk beneficiaries, and consider the benefits and special opportunities SNPs may provide for patients and providers who are able to take advantage of them.

Medicare Part D: Legislative Help for Patients, Pharmacists, and Physicians (PDF, 224 KB)
Several pieces of proposed legislation to correct issues related to the enrollment process and access to medications are reviewed from the patient, pharmacist, and physician perspective. In addition, the role of providers in ensuring that Medicare reform produces positive results for senior patients is examined.
